Ministering through worship

Acolytes

Acolytes are children, ages 9 or older, and adults who help in church worship services by lighting candles, carrying the cross and torches in processions, and various other tasks involving assistance to the rector. If you are interested in becoming an acolyte please contact the church office.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is composed of people, male or female, who maintain the vessels and linens, candles and flowers that adorn the Altar on the weekly services and special occasions, such as weddings, funerals, Easter and Christmas, etc. They serve under the Rector and adapt the routine according to the Rector’s wishes.

The different Church seasons, saints day etc., require the Altar Guild to be aware of changing colors of vestments, mostly shown on a Church calendar or directed by the Rector.

Membership is open to all who can commit to an hour on Saturdays and on Sundays or Wednesday for the mid-week service and also for extra duty during special services such as Easter and Christmas.

The Guild is led by a Chairman and Co-chairman, but each member is encouraged to act responsibly, arranging for their own substitute if needed and contributing with comments and suggestions to facilitate smooth running of the work. The Guild meets the 3d Tuesday of each month, with the Rector, to discuss upcoming services and other matters that arise.

New members are always welcome. It is most enjoyable work and time is given to new recruits to familiarize themselves with the routine.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers and Eucharistic Visitors are licensed by the Bishop and serve under the direction of the Rector.  EMs assist with administering Holy Communion during worship services while EVs take Holy Communion to the sick and shut-ins in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences following services, usually on Sunday mornings.

Lectors, Readers:

Lectors read Lessons and lead the reading of the Psalm at the worship services.

Music

The choir is blessed with being able to sing under the direction of our very talented organist, John Burke. If you enjoy singing with others, consider joining the Trinity Church choir.  The choir meets for  practice o Sunday mornings at 9:15, and sings for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service. We also meet once a month on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. for additional practice

Ushers

This is an important ministry as it is a first impression newcomers have when coming to Trinity. Just a warm smile a a hello can be very important, not only to regular members but also to visitors. Other duties include: handing out bulletins, ringing the church bell, collecting the offering, bringing it to the altar and more.
