Beyond Ourselves Ministry (BOM)

Our mission statement is: "Meeting the social needs of our community, here, and abroad, as an expression of our Christian concern for our fellow human beings." We give our support to such groups as Sonoma Overnight Shelter, Operation Youth, F.I.S.H., Meals-on-Wheels, ESL at La Luz and our companion parish in El Salvador.

Fellowship

After the Sunday services there are refreshments for the congregation to enjoy while mingling with fellow parishioners, getting to know one another. At the Sunday 10.30 a.m. service fruit juice is provided for children, who can also partake of the goodies.
These Coffee Hours are provided by volunteers who do so most generously. Anyone who would like to participate will be happily included in the schedule.

In addition most all of our small groups meet periodicly

Church Arts committee

This committee was established in 1989 for the purpose of creating an atmosphere that is conducive to prayer and worship by means of art and religious symbolism.  Any parish member, regardless of age, who feels he or she can contribute insight or ideas on ways of adding to the beauty of Trinity’s interior are encouraged to join

Contemplative Prayer group

This group provides a regular, informal setting for persons interested in twenty minutes of silent worship.  Book studies and video presentations on contemplative themes are scheduled from time to time.  You are invited to drop in Saturday mornings, St. Luke’s Chapel, 8:00 a.m.

Companion Parish Committee for San Juan Evangelista, El Salvador

This committee was formed in 1999 to explore ways in which Trinity Sonoma could develop its relationship with our companion parish. After a visit to El Salvador in 2000, it was decided to focus on youth. The scholarship program we started to enable students from San Juan Evangelista to attend high school has since grown to become a diocesan program helping more you people every year.

Front Triangle Garden

This garden has historically been maintained by a couple of parishioners, physically and financially.  Although an effort has been made to keep it low maintenance, there is always work to be done, especially at certain times of the year.  Your help is always welcome.

Joy Keepers (Pastoral Care Committee)

This support group for those with chronic illness and chronic pain meets the second Thursday of every month from 11:00 to noon in the Dallas Library.  All in the valley are welcome.

Wedding Coordinator:

Discusses the guidelines and requirements for weddings in our church with the prospective bride and groom and offer any assistance that is needed in the planning. Two members attend the rehearsal and two members attend the wedding to lend a helping hand wherever needed to assure the bridal party of a perfect ceremony.

Church Open Saturdays and Weekdays

This ministry is a project of several parishioners, who wish to make the church building available to others for prayer, rest, meditation and fellowship by volunteering as “welcomers.”  The church is kept open on weekdays from noon to 3:00 p.m. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Grateful Glad and Giving Community

This group leads year-round programs to sharpen our awareness of the need and opportunies for thanksgiving.
